Corundum
Corundum is a mineral, the gemstone quality specimens of which each have their own name. the most famous are the red specimen also known as the RUBY and the blue specimen which as better known as the SAPPHIRE. Other colours are available but are usually sold under the stage name “fancy sapphires.” See our gemstone information pages for more details on these gems.
